In March, Nikki Haley announced that she was withdrawing from the presidential race against former President Donald Trump. In a recent public appearance since the suspension of her campaign, Haley confirmed that she will vote for Trump.
"I stand by what I said in my suspension speech," she said.
She added that it would be "smart" on the part of Donald Trump if he asked for the support of millions of people who supported Haley in the confrontation within the Republican camp.
"Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me," she added.
Haley was speaking at the Hudson Institute in Washington on Wednesday, her first public appearance since leaving the race in March. She was asked whether Joe Biden or Trump would do a better job on national security issues.
The former UN ambassador and South Carolina governor outlined a list of priorities when choosing a president, ranging from the need to support allies and hold enemies accountable to supporting capitalism and freedom while reducing the national debt.
"Trump has not been perfect on these policies," Haley said. "I have made this clear many, many times. But Biden has been a disaster. So I'm going to vote for Trump."
