The former CIA officer for Europe, Rolf Mowatt-Larssen, has spoken about the impact of the war on the Western Balkans. He said that after the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the future of democracy and freedom is not certain.
"This is our fight. We must find a greater purpose, we must unite. It seems dramatic, but it defines everything that happens there. I wish that as soon as possible we give as much help and support as possible to Ukraine", he said during the meeting held in Tirana.
As for the possibility of using nuclear weapons in this war, the former CIA officer listed two circumstances that Putin could consider.
"This can happen if Russia risks losing the war and if Ukraine is successful in taking Crimea ," said the former officer.
The impact of the war on the tensions between Serbia and Kosovo was also discussed at the conference.
"We ask the existential question, if Serbia is given priority in the US policy in BP, do we contribute to strengthening the stability and security of the region or are they temporary solutions?", said Paskal Milo, former foreign minister of Albania .
"The impact of the war should be an impetus to exert pressure on Serbia. What are you going to do? Kosovo's membership in NATO as soon as possible. Enough," said Arian Starova, president of the Atlantic Council of Albania.
Such discussions and suggestions will be conveyed to the US through the former CIA officer.
