UN Women, a United Nations organization for gender equality and women's empowerment, called the war in Gaza, among other things, a war against women.
The organization estimated that 9,000 women have been killed in Gaza since the October 7 attack.
"As the war in Gaza continues for almost five months, the women of Gaza continue to suffer its devastating impact. While this war spares no one, the data shows that it kills and injures women in unprecedented ways," the statement said.
UN Women reported that an average of 63 women are killed every day in Gaza, with an estimated 37 mothers losing their lives, leaving their families devastated and their children without protection and care.
"More than 4 out of 5 women (84 percent) report that their family eats half or less of the amount of food they consumed before the war began. It is women and mothers who are more responsible for providing food, but they are exactly the ones who consume less than family members", says the United Nations organization.
UN Women also pointed out that 87% of women in Gaza find it more difficult to access food than men.
"Some women are now using extreme mechanisms, such as foraging under rubble or in bins," UN Women said.
They called for immediate humanitarian aid to reach Gaza and an end to the "killings, bombings and destruction of essential infrastructure in Gaza".
"Unless there is an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, many more will die in the coming days and weeks," UN Woman announced.
