A fatal incident in the Mexican state of Chihuahua has killed four officials, including two employees of the United States embassy.
According to preliminary data, the vehicle they were traveling in went off the road, ended up in a stream and then exploded. As a result, all four people died on the spot.
The victims were returning from a meeting with Mexican authorities, held as part of an operation against a drug lab in a remote area. Among them were two American officials and two representatives of Mexican institutions.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of the accident and the full circumstances of the incident. At the same time, the question of the role of the American side in this activity has also been raised.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has demanded verification of whether the possible involvement of US officials has respected national security laws. Meanwhile, the Attorney General of Chihuahua clarified that US officials did not directly participate in the action against the drug lab.
