Journalist Vladimir Solovyev attacks the Italian Prime Minister with vulgar epithets, Tajani summons the Russian ambassador
Statements made by Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyev on a television program in Moscow risk causing a new diplomatic clash between Italy and Russia.
During the show "Polnyj Kontakt," Solovyev directly attacked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, using abusive language. He called Meloni a "certified idiot" who betrayed Trump's trust.
" Shame on the human race! Natural monster, certified idiot! Giorgia Meloni prostitute! What an ugly woman. Evil. Fascist creature, who has betrayed her voters, because she ran with completely different slogans. Betrayal is her second name. She also betrayed Trump, to whom she had previously sworn allegiance ," he declared.

Following these statements, Italian President Sergio Mattarella expressed solidarity with the prime minister and publicly condemned the language used, calling it unacceptable.
In institutional reaction, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani announced that he had summoned the Russian ambassador in Rome to lodge an official protest. In a public statement, he described Solovyev's comments as "serious and offensive", stressing his full support for Meloni.
Relations between Italy and Russia have long been tense, largely due to Italy's continued support for Ukraine. Just a few days ago, during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Rome, the two countries signed an agreement to cooperate on the production of drones.
