
Pope Francis has criticized Israel's attacks on Lebanon, saying they 'go beyond morality'. According to him, actions should always be in proportion, otherwise we go beyond what is right.
"Even in war there is a moral to preserve. War is immoral. Defense must always be proportional to attack. When there is something disproportionate, you see a tendency to dominate that goes beyond morality ," the Pope said.
The Israeli military continued airstrikes against the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon on Sunday, a day after several Hezbollah commanders, including leader Hassan Nasrallah, were confirmed dead.
Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, described the assassination of Hezbollah leader Nasrallah on September 27 as essential to "changing the balance of power in the region for years to come."
In relation to this issue, the Iranians requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, while the speaker of the Iranian Parliament promised continued support for the groups facing Israel.
