Greek Parliament rejects motion to dismiss Government

The motion of no confidence in the government, presented by PASOK, SYRIZA and other opposition groups, was defeated by 157 votes in parliament.

The vote came after several hours of debates and clashes between members of the parliamentary majority and the opposition.

"We apologize to Ms. Konstantopoulou. "Our party has the ability to maintain its dignity and this is what we must do in the face of a politician who has called us collective murderers and a criminal organization," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized from the floor of the Assembly during the debate on the no-confidence motion.

He said that the main weapon that the opposition has in its hands is none other than the no-confidence motion. “I want to focus on the time when the united opposition chose to make this no-confidence motion, a no-confidence motion, as all parties said, aimed at the removal of this government,” Mitsotakis said.

“For three days now, the people have been watching a parade of arrogance and hypocrisy,” said Nikos Androulakis at the beginning of his speech in the debate on the no-confidence motion. Androulakis emphasized again that, “for three days now, you have been bombarding Parliament with fake news. For three days now, if we count them, we cannot find a beginning or an end. Why are you doing this? “Of course, after all this, you want to hide your criminal responsibilities for the Tempi tragedy.
