After the Israeli attack, the US guarantees Qatar with a presidential order: Any

US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order pledging to protect Qatar's security, including military intervention if the country is attacked. The order comes three weeks after Israel carried out airstrikes targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, which drew sharp criticism from both Qatari and US officials.

The order issued on Monday appears to assure Qatar that such an attack will not happen again, stating that any attack on the country will be considered a "threat to the peace and security of the United States."

Qatar, home to the largest US military base in the Middle East, has long considered the US, like many of its Gulf neighbors, an important guarantor of security. That made Israel's latest attack, despite its close ties to Washington, particularly alarming to Qatari officials.

The executive order states that if Qatar is attacked, the US must "take all lawful and appropriate measures, including diplomatic, economic, and if necessary, military, to protect the interests of the United States and the State of Qatar."

" The United States will consider any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States."

In the event of such an attack, the United States will take all lawful and appropriate measures – including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military – to protect the interests of the United States and the State of Qatar and to restore peace and stability.

"The Secretary of War, in coordination with the Secretary of State and the Director of National Intelligence, will maintain joint contingency planning with the State of Qatar to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to any foreign aggression against the State of Qatar ," the executive order states.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the September attacks, describing them as part of Israel's early objective to avenge the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023. Netanyahu has also accused Qatar of providing "safe haven" to Hamas.

Later, the Israeli Prime Minister's social media account of American company X posted that Netanyahu, in a phone call with the Qatari prime minister, said: " Mr. Prime Minister, I want you to know that Israel regrets that one of your citizens was killed in our attack ."

Israel has maintained unofficial ties with Qatar, which, along with Egypt, has acted as a mediator in efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
