After oil, a crisis is also warned for chemical fertilizers; Iran suspends all

Iranian media have reported that the Islamic Republic has decided to suspend exports of all petrochemical products until further notice, in order to ensure that "domestic needs" are met following the severe damage caused by Israeli attacks.

Since the escalation of the conflict, Israel has claimed responsibility for attacks on key petrochemical complexes in Iran, particularly in the Asaluyeh and Mahshahr areas, both in the south of the country. According to Iranian media Jamaran and other state sources, facilities such as Fajr Energy Persian Gulf in Mahshahr, as well as Mobin Energy and Damavand Energy in Asaluyeh, have been severely damaged.

Production has been halted at more than 50 petrochemical complexes in these two main regions. The Israeli strikes mainly targeted utilities that supply electricity, water, gas and oxygen to the petrochemical plants, leading to massive production disruptions across the area.

According to Israeli statements, these complexes accounted for up to 50-85% of Iran's petrochemical production and exports. Petrochemical products include a wide range of goods, from plastics, basic chemicals, chemical fertilizers to various industrial materials.

The suspension of exports is expected to have a direct impact on the economy, various industries within the country and thousands of jobs. This decision comes at a time when Iran is facing severe economic and military pressure due to the war in the Middle East, forcing authorities to prioritize supplying the domestic market.
