How long will the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz last? That's the question that Caroline Leavitt was asked, but she didn't give a timeframe.
"I would never set deadlines on behalf of the president of the United States," she replied.
Leavitt then added, "With regard to the blockade, as you know, it has been fully implemented and is being implemented against ships of all nations entering or leaving Iranian ports."
She also says she has seen some "misreporting" about the blockade.
"I've seen some misreporting on this as well. That includes all of the Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, and our American forces in the region are supporting freedom of navigation for ships that are going through the strait to and from non-Iranian ports. So I know some in the press were confused about that. We are supporting freedom of navigation, but not with respect to any tankers or ships that would benefit Iran's economy while these negotiations continue."
