After rumors of tensions, Trump avoids JD Vance from negotiations with Iran?
Vance-Trump

United States President Donald Trump has said that peace talks with Iran, planned in Pakistan, are expected to take place "very soon," confirming his administration's commitment to a sensitive diplomatic process.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff would be involved in the negotiations. He left open the possibility of Vice President JD Vance's participation, noting that there are "security and defense issues" that could affect his involvement.

The statement comes at a time when signals have been circulating in American political circles about an unstable relationship between Trump and Vance, particularly regarding the management of the crisis with Iran.

This was also reflected during a closed-door White House event on the occasion of Easter, where Trump publicly asked Vance for an update on the progress of the negotiations. While the vice president responded curtly, Trump intervened in ironic tones, suggesting that responsibility for possible failure would be attributed to him, while success would be considered his personal merit.

This episode, later accidentally released in an official video, has been interpreted by analysts as indicative of an unbalanced relationship within the administration, where Vance's role seems limited and exposed to political pressure.

In the background, the vice president's position has become more complex due to his previous positions. Vance has been a vocal critic of US involvement in a conflict with Iran, calling such a scenario contrary to the national interest. However, recent developments have directly linked him to this process, placing him in a difficult political position.

According to observers, the uncertainty over his role in future negotiations, combined with public episodes that raise questions about his relationship with the president, could affect his weight within the administration and his political perspective within the Republican movement.

In this context, negotiations with Iran represent not only a foreign policy challenge for the US, but also a domestic test of balances and cohesion at the highest levels of political leadership in Washington.
