US President Donald Trump has declared that Lebanon is not part of the two-week ceasefire agreement reached yesterday with Iran.
In an interview with the PBS News Hour, Trump said that the Israel-Lebanon conflict was a completely different war and that Lebanon was not included in the agreement. However, given Iran's claims, Trump said that this would be resolved without a problem.
"Yes, Lebanon, it was not included in the deal. Because of Hezbollah. They were not included in the deal. That will be fixed too. No problem ," Trump said, implying that he would speak to Israel.
A senior White House official told CNN that Israel agreed to suspend the bombing campaign while negotiations continue.
Meanwhile, media outlets recently reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will call a security cabinet meeting later today.
The meeting will take place at 2:30 PM Eastern Time to discuss developments in the Iran ceasefire. This suggests that Trump has called Netanyahu to ask him not to attack Lebanon during the ceasefire.
