"I am no longer the president of Serbia if it is proven that the deadly weapon 'sonic cannon' was used against protesters," said President Aleksandar Vučić.
Serbian security forces are accused of using a military sonic weapon at a mass rally where in a video, while protesters were calm, suddenly a loud sound explodes and everyone runs to escape its wave. A sonic weapon that Vučić confirms that Serbia purchased during the Vulin era.
This sonic cannon can emit sounds up to 160 decibels, equivalent to standing next to a rocket and damaging the eardrum to the point of deafness.
Earache and disorientation were the concerns of protesters accusing the government of using acoustic devices in the protest. Serbia officially requested the involvement of the FBI and the Russian FSB in the investigation into the use or not of sound cannons in the anti-government protest of March 15 in Belgrade.
