
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia has declared a state of emergency due to floods and heavy rains. 37 towns and villages are at risk of flooding. It is reported that 75 people have been evacuated so far.
The media report that the situation is currently more critical in Jagodina, Trstenik, Brus, Kosjeric, Sokobanje. The flow of the rivers is moving in the direction of Kurshumli, Prokupla and Doljevci.
The Republican Hydrometeorological Institute warned today that the heavy rains will continue and will increase the water level in the Mlava, Pek and Crni Timok rivers.
Rainfall is expected to decrease on Saturday, while the water level in Mllavë, Pek and Crni Timok in the next two days will move above the limits of regular flood protection.
The water flow can also include the streams and upper basins of Western and Southern Morava, Ibri, Nišava, Toplica, Rasina, Majura, Belica, Crnica and Lepenica, as well as in the basins of Mllava, Peka and Timok.
