The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, says that Donald Trump wants a quick end to the war, but that does not mean that it will necessarily happen.
The Ukrainian president said he is not aware of any details or plans to end the war soon and has not discussed proposals with Trump.
Speaking to reporters at the European Political Community summit in Budapest, Zelensky also said that talks about introducing a ceasefire without first agreeing on security guarantees for Ukraine are "very dangerous".
" A cease-fire when there are no security guarantees... is a preparation for the continuation of the occupation ," he said.
Trump has repeatedly criticized US aid to Ukraine and claimed he would end the war soon, though he has never said how and some fear it would include Ukrainian land concessions as part of a peace agreement.
