The European Broadcasting Union, which also handles the Eurovision Song Contest, has announced that it will hold a vote on whether or not Israel should be allowed to participate in next year's festival.
The EBU confirmed that it will invite 68 member countries to give their opinion at a meeting in early November.
The decision will be made by simple majority, meaning that if more than 50% of members vote to exclude Israel, the country will not participate in 2026.
Israel's continued participation in Eurovision has been controversial due to the ongoing war in Gaza, and several countries had already called for their exclusion.
The EBU confirmed that all 68 member countries will be invited to vote, including broadcasters that do not participate in Eurovision, such as Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Jordan and Lebanon.
Israel came second in the most recent Eurovision Song Contest in May, with its artist Yuval Raphael receiving the most public votes.
However, the inclusion of jury votes led to Austria being declared the winner, and the next competition is scheduled to take place in Vienna.
