A reference to a biblical verse that promises a "victorious future for a strong Israel" appears to have determined the codename for Israel's military operation against Iran.
The name given to Israel's operation against Iran, "Lion on the Rise," is no coincidence, as it is written in the Old Testament.
The expression comes from verse 23:24 of the fourth book of the Old Testament, called "Numbers": "Behold, the people will rise up like a great lion and will not rest until they devour the prey and drink the blood of the slain."
According to Reuters, the verse is part of the first oracle of Balaam, a non-Israelite prophet who predicts the strength and power of Israel, comparing it to a lion that will not rest until it has satisfied its hunger.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called Israel's attacks "satanic."
It is worth noting that hours before Israel launched its attacks on Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited one of Jerusalem's holiest sites and placed a handwritten note on the Western Wall.
Netanyahu's 15-year plan
Analysts report that Netanyahu is now implementing a plan that has been in the making for 15 years and that ideologically spans a lifetime.
Since 2009, he has proposed an attack on Iran to prevent it from building a nuclear bomb, while in 2012, at the UN, he drew the "red line" with a marker.
Since then, in every election race, he has defined himself as the "guarantor of security" until his image was destroyed on October 7, 2023, with the unprecedented attack by Hamas. Now, he is trying to restore it in the midst of a disorganized Iran, considering himself destined to ensure Israel's survival by any means necessary.
