Iran retaliates with 150 missiles, targeting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv

As Israeli attacks continued across Iran, targeting a nuclear power plant in Isfahan, Tehran responded with its own retaliation. Specifically, the IDF reports 150 rockets fired from Iran towards Israel, most likely targeting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, where sirens are sounding.

Earlier, Iranian media gave the first unofficial death toll from the first serious Israeli attacks.

Iran confirmed that 78 people were killed (including 20 administrative leaders) and 329 were injured in the capital Tehran.

Russian President Vladimir Putin contacted his Iranian counterpart Masud Peskov and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today and declared his "readiness" to mediate to end the crisis.

The attacks have focused on missile launch systems and drone launch infrastructure in Iran, the IDF said.

Israel must immediately abandon "its strategy to destabilize the region," Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday.

He added that negotiations on the nuclear program initiated by US President Donald Trump were the only way to resolve the conflict.

In a post on X after a four-hour security meeting with Turkey's defense minister and intelligence chief, Fidan said Ankara was in close contact with the US, Iran, Iraq and Jordan.

He added that Turkey has taken the necessary measures at the highest level against threats to regional security.

The Middle East is on the brink of a full-scale war, following Israel's colossal attack on Iran's nuclear facilities and missile systems, with 200 warplanes against 100 targets. The diplomatic field is in turmoil and the energy market is in a "crisis", with Donald Trump declaring that he knew about the attack and that Iran was given many opportunities to conclude a nuclear deal.

Sky News reports that Iran's retaliation could include attacks not only on Israeli and American assets, but also on allies and oil facilities in the Persian Gulf.
