The US military operation against Iran is expected to last about four weeks. The warning came from US President Donald Trump, as he warned of further losses in the military ranks.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Trump said that the duration of the conflict was predicted from the beginning.
" It's always been a four-week process. We thought it would take four weeks or something like that. It's always been about four weeks - no matter how strong the operation is, it's a big place, it's going to take four weeks - or less ," he said.
The President added that the operation went according to plan and that the results exceeded initial expectations.
" In addition to the fact that we eliminated all of their leadership - many, many more than we thought. It looks like there are 48 ," Trump declared, referring to the Iranian leaders he said were killed in the strikes.
Commenting on the deaths of three American servicemen, Trump acknowledged that further losses could occur.
" They're wonderful people. And, you know, we expect this to happen, unfortunately. It could happen over and over again, it could happen again ," he said.
In another interview with NBC News, the president said: " We have three, but we expect casualties, but in the end it will be a great deal for the world ."
Trump said he would meet with the families of the service members "at the appropriate time" and that he could travel to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for a ceremony to welcome the bodies, or invite the families to the White House.
His statements come at a time when military operations in Iran continue and the US administration signals a confrontation that could last several weeks.
