The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced that they have blown up several Hamas tunnels under Gaza City. In some released footage, IDF troops can be seen placing explosives inside the tunnels, before detonating them.
The Israeli military also claimed to have destroyed a hideout belonging to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, which was located inside the tunnels that were destroyed.
Sinwar is one of the people wanted by Israel. Israeli soldiers have been searching for him inside tunnels and buildings in his hometown of Khan Younis and elsewhere in the Palestinian region. According to rumours, he is regularly in various locations throughout Gaza, and freed Israeli hostages claim to have seen him hiding in tunnels with them at times.
