Netanyahu orders all-out offensive amid extreme hunger; world warns of humanitarian catastrophe...

On August 8, 2025, Israel's security cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved the plan for the occupation of Gaza City, one of the most densely populated and devastated areas of the Strip.

According to Reuters, the operation is presented by the government as a decisive step towards freeing Israeli prisoners and destroying Hamas structures, and is expected to be accompanied by the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians and the further expansion of military control in the territory.

Netanyahu has stated that he does not aim for permanent rule over Gaza, but 'The Guardian' notes that the facts on the ground point to a slow and steady strategy of deploying forces.

This decision has sparked a wave of harsh international reactions.

The United Nations and the European Union warn that the complete occupation of the city, in the face of an extreme food crisis, would turn into a humanitarian catastrophe.

Turkey and Great Britain have called on Tel Aviv to withdraw, while Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has called the move an "unnecessary escalation" that does not bring a political solution closer.

On the other hand, the humanitarian situation in Gaza is at its most critical point.

According to data published by the AP, over 2.3 million people are facing high food insecurity, while some of them are in the "catastrophic" phase of hunger (IPC Phase 5).

Incidents during aid distribution have taken on tragic proportions: according to humanitarian sources, over 1,300 civilians have been killed trying to obtain food, often in distributions organized by foundations supported by the US and Israel.

Analysts warn that Gaza is approaching a "point of no return," where any new military action will not only add to the suffering but cement a long cycle of hostility and violence.

This situation puts Israel face to face with an important test: will it choose to move forward with the logic of force, or will it recognize that humanitarian ethics are an integral part of long-term security.

If the occupation of Gaza takes place without a clear strategy for protecting civilians and guaranteeing basic supplies, as the UN and aid organizations warn, history will remember this moment not as a strategic victory, but as a dark chapter where hunger was used as a weapon./ Pamphlet
