Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his support for Iran and its leadership.
The Russian president congratulated Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian on Nowruz, the Persian New Year, a statement said.
He also "wished the Iranian people to overcome the harsh trials with dignity and stressed that in this difficult time Moscow remains a loyal friend and reliable partner of Tehran."
Earlier this week, the Kremlin dismissed reports that Russia had expanded intelligence sharing and military cooperation with Iran as "disinformation."
Putin previously spoke with Donald Trump about the Iran war, who said the pair had "a very good conversation" on the phone and "he [Putin] wants to be helpful."
But in later comments, the US president also said he thought Putin "could help Iran a little bit."
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has said he is considering a "gradual reduction" of military operations in the Middle East. At the same time, US forces are being reinforced with additional sailors and naval personnel.
However, according to the American network CBS, approximately 2,500 Marines, along with the amphibious assault ship Boxer and accompanying warships, will be deployed to the region, while a White House spokesman stressed that the mission will take four to six weeks to complete.
