Iran's exiled crown prince, Reza Pahlavi, has sharply criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, accusing him of a lack of action on the situation in Iran.
In a public reaction, Pahlavi stated that Starmer "failed to act" to stop what he described as the "massacre of 40,000 innocent Iranians" by the regime in Tehran during January.
He added that only the overthrow of the current regime in Iran can bring stability and lasting peace to the region, also linking this to international security.
Pahlavi called on the British prime minister to pursue a tougher approach, using a historical comparison.
"Keir Starmer should follow in the footsteps of Churchill, not Chamberlain. He should support the Iranian people's fight for freedom. There is still time for the Government to change course: to prosecute the IRGC for massacring innocents, to expel the illegitimate regime's ambassador, and to act to support the people of Iran," he said.
Pahlavi's comments come in response to a statement a day earlier by Starmer, who welcomed a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
