Israel’s Defense Ministry has announced that 6,500 tons of military equipment and ammunition have arrived in the country in the past 24 hours, mainly from the United States.
The large shipment includes air and ground ammunition, as well as light armored vehicles. The transport was carried out by two cargo ships and several transport aircraft.
After unloading at major ports, the equipment was immediately sent to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) military bases across the country.
Defense Minister Israel Katz said that these supplies are part of an ongoing effort to keep the Israeli military fully ready.
“Our goal is to ensure that the IDF has all the necessary means so that it can return to action with full force against our enemies, at any time and in any place where it is required ,” Katz stressed.
The shipment comes at a time when tensions with Iran remain high. After a period of direct fighting between Israel, the US and Iran, a ceasefire was established that looks set to expire very soon.
However, in recent days, senior Israeli officials, including Minister Katz himself, have stated that Israel is prepared to resume military operations against Iran as soon as it receives approval from the United States.
