Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, has been hospitalized and is in "critical but stable" condition, his spokesman said.
Ted Goodman wrote on social media that "Giuliani is a warrior who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength and is fighting with the same level of strength as we speak. We ask that you join us in prayer for America's former mayor, Rudy Giuliani."
It's not clear why Giuliani, 81, is in the hospital or how long he's been there. Giuliani hosted his online show, "America's Mayor Live," on Friday night from Florida, but said his voice was "a little strange."
Giuliani was praised for his response to the September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda attack on New York City, earning him the nickname "America's mayor."
He later worked as a lawyer for Donald Trump in his failed efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, an effort that led to criminal charges against Giuliani in two U.S. states and a defamation lawsuit by election workers. Giuliani has denied any wrongdoing in the criminal cases. Trump pardoned Giuliani after he faced criminal charges for his efforts to help overturn the 2020 election.
Trump, on his social media platform Truth Social, praised his former lawyer: “Our wonderful Rudy Giuliani, a true warrior and the best Mayor in the history of New York, has been hospitalized and is in critical condition.” Giuliani was “right about everything” and that Democrats “did everything possible to destroy our nation, and now, look at Rudy. How sad!”
He was previously hospitalized last year after a car accident in New Hampshire.
