Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine exist, but are currently suspended.
Three rounds of negotiations took place this year in Istanbul, Turkey, the last of which took place in July.
Asked about a possible new face-to-face meeting or possible online communication, Peskov said that "our negotiators have the opportunity to use these channels. But at this point, contacts can be described as interrupted."
Peskov said the peace process is a complex issue that cannot produce “quick results.” “The Russian side maintains its commitment to pursuing peaceful dialogue and a peaceful solution,” he added.
The Kremlin spokesman agreed with the remarks of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who earlier accused EU leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyyr Zelensky of blocking the peace process. According to Peskov, “the Europeans are obstructing, and this is no secret.”
