"Russia does not respond to ultimatums", Moscow's first reaction

The message that "Russia does not respond to ultimatums" was conveyed by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who commented on the adoption of the 17th package of sanctions against Moscow. These sanctions tighten the noose around the tankers of its dark fleet and help it bypass sanctions that affect Russian oil exports.

The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kalas, announced that "the European Union has adopted the 17th package of sanctions against Russia, affecting 200 ships of its shadow fleet."

"Additional sanctions against Russia are also being discussed. The longer Russia continues the war, the harsher our response will be," she added.

For her part, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in a post on X, explained that "the time has come to intensify pressure on Russia to achieve a ceasefire."

In her statements, Zakharova unleashes "fire" on the West, stating that "the formula promoted by the West about the impossibility of negotiations under conditions of military action does not withstand any criticism."

At the same time, she points her arrows at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that "his attempt to disrupt negotiations with the Russian delegation in Istanbul failed miserably" and that "his calls for peace must be accompanied by real actions."
