Trump gives positive signals on negotiations with Ukraine...
United States President Donald Trump has signaled that peace in Ukraine is closer than ever.
He announced on social media that his administration had made "tremendous progress" over the past week in efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. In a public statement, Trump said the sides had come closer on the peace plan, which has now been reduced to "only a few outstanding points."
According to the US president, the original 28-point plan, drawn up by the US, has been revised with additional contributions from Moscow and Kiev. Trump said that last month "25,000 soldiers lost their lives" and that the situation requires an urgent agreement.
With the aim of finalizing the plan, Trump announced that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has been sent to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In parallel, Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, will hold talks with Ukrainian representatives.
Trump stressed that he will be regularly briefed on the progress of the negotiations, along with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The US president said he was willing to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin "only when the agreement is ready to be finalized or in the final stages." He called on all parties to remain committed, adding that he hopes "peace can be achieved as soon as possible."
The US-brokered process appears to have entered a crucial phase, as the international community awaits Moscow's reaction and the willingness of the two sides to sign an agreement that could end the worst conflict in Europe since World War II.
“ Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress in efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine (a war that would NEVER have started if I were President!). 25,000 soldiers lost their lives last month. The original 28-point Peace Plan, which was drafted by the United States, has been refined, incorporating additional suggestions from both sides, and now only a few outstanding issues remain.
In hopes of finalizing this Peace Plan, I have directed my Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet with President Putin in Moscow, and at the same time, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainians. I will be briefed on any progress made, along with Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with President Zelensky and President Putin soon, but only when the agreement to end this war is FINAL or in its final stages.
Thank you for your attention to this extremely important issue, and let us all hope that PEACE is achieved as soon as possible ," he writes. /Pamphlet
