At least 80 people were killed in the attack...
The US Department of Defense has released footage of the moment a torpedo hit an Iranian warship near Sri Lanka. At least 80 people were killed in the attack in the Indian Ocean, according to Sri Lanka's deputy foreign minister. It was previously believed that at least 140 people were missing after the incident.

He said the ship was returning to Iran from a port in eastern India. Pete Hegseth, the US defense secretary, said the US attack represented the first sinking of an enemy ship by a torpedo since World War II.
"Just like in that war... we are fighting to win ," he said.
Hegseth further outlined plans to accelerate the military effort. The secretary added that the next phase of military action aims for US and Israeli air forces to take full control of Iranian skies and this is expected to be completed “within a week.”
"As President Trump said, there are bigger and bigger waves coming. We're just getting started. We're accelerating, not slowing down. This was never meant to be a fair match, and it's not a fair match. We're punching them while they're down, which is exactly how it should be," Hegseth said.
Photos of the aftermath of the attack posted on X show the bow of the stricken ship pointed skyward before sinking.
Since the start of the US and Israeli strikes, at least 1,045 people have been killed and 5,402 others reported injured. About 181 of these deaths are said to have been children under the age of 10. This number does not include military targets that have been killed so far in dozens of attacks on bases and the homes of political leaders.
Determining an accurate figure on the number of casualties during a conflict is challenging, especially in Iran, where the internet has been down since Saturday.
