Tensions in the Middle East continue to rise, as Iran has warned it could target Israeli embassies around the world if Israel attacks the Iranian embassy in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
According to Iranian media, which cite a spokesman for Iran's armed forces, a possible attack on the Iranian diplomatic mission would bring retaliation against Israeli diplomatic facilities in various countries around the world.
The warning comes as the Israeli military has announced military operations in Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had launched strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut this morning.
According to the same announcement, over the last three hours the Israeli army has launched a wave of attacks in the southern area of Lebanon, as part of operations against Hezbollah structures.
