The White House is preparing a meeting on February 19 with member countries of the Peace Board, with the aim of advancing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and opening an international process for financing the reconstruction of the Palestinian territory.
According to information from US officials and diplomats from participating countries, the meeting aims to serve both as the first formal meeting of the Peace Board and as a conference to coordinate financial support for Gaza. Plans remain in the preparatory phase and may change in the future.
The Peace Board is chaired by US President Donald Trump and includes 27 countries. Albania and Kosovo are also members. Albania formalized its membership through a decision of the Assembly with 110 votes in favor, following the official invitation to join the initiative as a founding member country.
In November, the United Nations Security Council gave its backing to the plan, giving the Basic Peace Board international legitimacy. The founding documents provide for the supervision of demilitarization and reconstruction processes in conflict zones, without directly mentioning Gaza.
The planned meeting is expected to mark the first practical step of the Peace Board, while it remains to be seen how political and financial commitments for Gaza will be materialized.
