The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed and published the results of the early elections for president of the Republika Srpska entity, according to which Sinisa Karan has been elected to this post.
Karan, a candidate of Milorad Dodik's Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), will exercise this function until new general elections are held, which are expected to take place in October of this year.
The repeated early elections for the president of Republika Srpska were held on February 8 in 16 cities of this entity and in the Brcko District.
41,826 citizens, or 49.51 percent, voted in the elections. A total of 84,474 voters were eligible to vote.
The elections were held in 136 polling stations in 17 local self-government units in Republika Srpska and the Brcko District. They were repeated after the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina discovered irregularities during the vote held on 23 November 2025.
The elections were announced following the decision in August 2025 to remove Milorad Dodik from the presidency of Republika Srpska, due to his conviction for disrespecting the decisions of the international High Representative in Bosnia. /REL
