A powerful explosion was recorded near the city of Beit Shemesh in Israel, at the facilities of the state-owned military industry Tomer. However, the company described the incident as a "planned test".

The incident remains unclear, despite a quick official statement from the Israeli defense industry that it was a “planned and controlled test.” According to international media, the intensity of the explosion caused surprise even within Israel.

Beit Shemesh, near Jerusalem, was hit several times by missiles fired from Iran during the last conflict, which has increased the concern of residents amid speculation about a possible resumption of fighting.

According to the Times of Israel, the Tomer company stated that the explosion was related to a “planned experiment” that “went according to plan.” An anonymous source at the company confirmed to public broadcaster Kan that it was a controlled and pre-arranged explosion, without explaining why the test was carried out at 11:30 p.m.

Channel 12 reported, without citing sources, that the test involved propulsion systems for missiles, including models with ranges of thousands of kilometers.

Tomer is considered a key link in the production of engines for Israel's Arrow and other ballistic systems. The company specifically produces the Arrow and Barak MX missile systems, as well as satellite launchers.

Posts in international media and social networks linked the explosion to a missile propulsion testing center near the Sdot Micha air base, an area that has been considered strategically important for the Israeli missile arsenal for decades.

There is no official indication of an attack so far. There have been no reports of casualties, no activation of anti-aircraft systems, or any military declaration of hostile action. Israeli media have largely repeated the Tomer company's version.

A similar incident was recorded in 2021 at an Israeli missile test facility in Ramla, also during an engine test. This precedent raises the possibility of a technical incident or a test that went outside the expected parameters.

In a public post, the US president declared: "Explosion at the Tomer Company factory. The company designs and manufactures heavy and light rocket engines, including thrusters for the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 missiles, the Silver Anchor rocket engine, as well as engines for the Horizon industry."

Tomer, which develops the Arrow, Barak MX missile systems and satellite launchers, announced that the explosion was coordinated and planned in cooperation with the authorities.
