The White House said it supports Israel's decision to delay the release of 602 Palestinian prisoners scheduled for release in exchange for six Israeli hostages handed over on Saturday.
The White House also stated that it supports Israel in its statements that Hamas is barbarically treating Israeli hostages.
"Given Hamas' barbaric treatment of hostages, including the despicable parade of coffins containing the bodies of the Biba children through the streets of Gaza, Israel's decision to delay the release of the prisoners is entirely appropriate ," Brian Hughes, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, said in a statement.
He added that US President Donald Trump is ready to support Israel in the way it chooses to deal with Hamas.
Israeli authorities said yesterday they were delaying the release of 602 Palestinian prisoners in a swap with Hamas until they received guarantees that the "humiliating ceremonies" that Hamas holds during the handover of hostages will stop.
