Spanish police said on Saturday that they had arrested three pro-Russian hackers suspected of carrying out terrorist cyber attacks against Spain and other NATO countries.
The suspects have been detained for participating in attacks against public institutions and strategic sectors, authorities said.
The attacks were allegedly carried out against the websites of public and private organizations, government sectors, critical infrastructure and essential services in countries supporting Ukraine as it fights Russian occupation, according to the release.
The police have published a video on the social network X - the platform previously known as Twitter - conducting a raid on the house of one of the suspects, where Soviet elements were seen attached to the walls.
"These computer attacks were organized by the hacker group NoName057(16), which started working after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and is the most active," the police said.
"In their founding manifesto, the group acknowledges that it will respond accordingly to the hostile anti-Russian actions of Western Russophobes."
The arrests were made in different regions of Spain./REL
