Israel has retaliated against Spain over its decision to ban the sale of Spanish weapons to Israel.
Israel responded by barring Deputy Prime Minister and Labor Minister Yolanda Diaz and Youth Minister Sira Rego, both from the left-wing Sumar party, from entering the country.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced the urgent approval of a decree that strengthens the embargo on arms sales to Israel.
"The government thinks that defending your country is one thing, but bombing hospitals or letting people die of hunger is completely different," said the head of the Spanish executive.
The new decree prohibits ships or aircraft carrying weapons or fuel destined for the Israeli military from stopping at Spanish ports or using its airspace.
Sanchez made the decision to officially recognize Palestine as a state in May of this year.
