Iran supports further talks with France, the United Kingdom and Germany, known as the E3, and the European Union, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said after the meeting in Geneva.
“We support the continuation of discussions with the E3 and the EU and express our readiness to meet again in the near future ,” he said.
In a statement to the media, he said that Iran is ready to reconsider diplomacy once the aggression stops and the aggressor is held accountable for the crimes committed. He further added that he made it clear that Iran's defense capabilities were "non-negotiable."
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump, who was apparently excluded from this moment, said that Iran does not want to talk to Europe. In a statement to the media, he emphasized that he had spoken to Iran and cast doubt on the influence that the Europeans have had.
"We have talked to Iran and we will see what happens. Iran does not want to talk to Europe, Iran wants to talk to us. Europe will not be able to help in this case ," he said, adding that he believes that today's talks in Geneva did not help.
Regarding Iran's request, Trump stated that it is "very difficult" to demand that Israel stop its attacks, something Iran called on the US to do.
Asked whether the decision to attack Iran is the biggest decision he will have to make as president, Trump said he was unable to answer that question.
" I wouldn't be able to tell you that now. I'll tell you in about a year... you never know about these decisions ," he said.
The US president also told reporters that he could support a ceasefire between Israel and Iran depending on the circumstances.
