Chilling new information and details are emerging on the Hamas attack inside Israel, including shocking videos taken by the aggressors themselves as they raided Israeli homes, killing civilians and then killing themselves.
Searches of their dead bodies revealed a number of specific battle plans, including these detailed maps, which were provided to CNN by the Israeli government. They show communities near Gaza, such as Kfar Aza, targeted by the aggressors.
These were the horrifying scenes inside, as armed militants recorded themselves moving freely through the courtyards of Israeli homes.
"Code red, code red," is heard in Hebrew as Israel responds to the gunfire. After the attack, Israeli forces saw bullet holes and traces of blood in room after room in what appeared to be a massacre carried out in cold blood.
"But while hundreds of Israelis were killed, some communities managed to repel the aggressors and save lives. In Kibbutz Mefalsim, also near Gaza, residents discovered documents on the bodies of the militants they killed, with disturbing and highly accurate information about their homes," says CNN reporter Matthew Chance.
Including the exact number of armed guards there. "Regional defense forces, at least 20 residents and 10 soldiers," reads a document.
Footage from security cameras shows how the militants killed an Israeli outside the community's fence, before retreating. But despite detailed information on their targets, not every target was achieved.
The nearby area of Sa'ad was not attacked, although the documents said Hamas intended to cause maximum casualties there while also taking hostages. A detailed road map found on another aggressor shows individual buildings in Saad rated as important for military value.
The communal kitchen is described as the main place to hold hostages. Israeli authorities also say they found other documents advising the aggressors to kill anyone who poses a threat or attracts attention.
The documents call for hostages to be kept away from weapons and used as cannon fodder. Tel Aviv also claims that a document containing references to ISIS and Al Qaeda was found on a slain militant.
