Secure the Strait, end attacks on gas sources; Brussels ultimatum to Tehran
Tehran

EU High Representative Kaia Kallas called Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to convey Brussels' strong concerns. According to a European official, Kallas stressed that safe passage through the Strait is an absolute priority for Europe, sending a clear message about protecting maritime trade routes.

At the same time, she called on Iran to immediately stop any attacks on critical infrastructure in the region, stressing that such actions harm stability.

The European Union's position remains firmly in favor of reducing tensions and a diplomatic solution to the war, but this communication took place under the weight of an extremely negative development. As it turned out, the phone call took place shortly before the execution of a European citizen by the Iranian regime. The European Union was quick to condemn the event in the strongest possible terms, which undermines any efforts at rapprochement.

The coincidence of diplomatic intervention and the death penalty highlights the gulf separating the two sides. While the EU is pushing for a peaceful solution and respect for international maritime law, Tehran's actions are leading to further isolation.

Kallas made it clear that Europe's patience is running out, as infrastructure challenges and human rights violations put both regional security and European values at immediate risk.
