A serious event happened in the USA, where a 36-year-old man in Denver was killed by the police during an incident.
According to police, the victim, identified as Brandon Cole, was holding a pen and attempted to attack the police officer.
But the agents have stated that they initially believed that the victim was holding a knife. It was later revealed to be just a pen.
The Denver Police Chief officially stated that the officer mistakenly believed the 36-year-old was armed with a knife.
Police body cameras show the moment when the patrol goes to the neighborhood after being alerted by the residents about a possible case of domestic violence.
When the police arrived there, the victim's wife, who was in a wheelchair, could be heard asking the police not to shoot.
Agents do not take any action until this moment. Then 36-year-old Brandon Cole gets out of the car and rushes towards the police. The latter point the gun at him. The victim was making erratic movements and rushed towards the female police officer, while the latter shot him 2 times with a gun, leaving him dead.
Behind the victim, a small child can be seen together with the mother. The latter were not injured.
The police chief considered the incident a tragedy, while the prosecutor will examine the legality of the police's behavior and the shooting.
