The tragedy with 104 civilians killed, Biden chooses the new way to help Gaza

American President Joe Biden has announced that the United States of America will begin sending aid to Gaza by air, after reports that over 100 Palestinians were killed while waiting for aid.

"We must do more, the United States must do more," Biden told reporters at the White House, at the start of a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

"In the coming days, we will join our friends in Jordan and others, sending aid from the air,"  Biden added.

This announcement comes as negotiations for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian group declared a terrorist by the United States and the European Union, take place.

The war was sparked by Hamas on October 7 last year after attacks in southern Israel killed over 1,200 people and took 240 hostages.

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas, and its air and ground offensive in Gaza has killed more than 30,000 Palestinians, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Biden has called several times to avoid killing civilians, although he continues to maintain strong ties with Israel, a US ally.

The American president has said that he hopes to reach a six-week ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims.

Ceasefire talks have been complicated by Thursday's incident, when dozens of starving Palestinians were killed while waiting for aid in northern Gaza, where the United Nations says there is a high risk of starvation.

An Israeli source has admitted that the army opened fire on the crowd, believing that they posed a "threat"./REL
