The Basic Court of Kocani has ordered short-term detention for former Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi, former director of the Market Inspectorate Goran Trajkovski and 12 other detainees accused of involvement in the Kocani tragedy. They granted a license to the Pulse nightclub where 59 people lost their lives and 155 others were injured.
The court announced that, in accordance with the law, all suspects appealed the measure within three hours, but the criminal council at this stage of the procedure rejected all appeals.
Bekteshi and Trajkovski, including the former state secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Razmena Çekic-Durovic, are accused of the license they had granted to the entity "MMM Kafe" in Kocani, whose commercial name was "Klubi Puls". The document is dated March 13, 2024.
The prosecution has requested graphological expertise of the signatures of official persons given on the club's licenses which are suspected to be forged.
Earlier, the Minister of Interior, Pance Toshkovski, the informal owner of the club, the ticket seller, four bodyguards, the head of the insurance agency, the owner of the building where the club operated, three people from the State Market Inspectorate, one from the Labor Inspectorate, and another person related to the case were arrested.
