Vermont's Republican governor, Phil Scott, has said he voted for Kamala Harris, arguing he had to "put country before party."
Scott cast his vote for the Democratic candidate on Tuesday (November 4) at a local polling station, foreign media reported.
The GOP governor said his vote for Harris is not an endorsement, but more of a vote against Donald Trump.
"I know that Donald Trump, from my perspective, has neither the ability nor the desire to unite our country. Does Kamala Harris have that ability? I don't know either, but I know she wants to, and she'll try, and that's half the battle," he said.
The Vermont governor has been critical of the Republican nominee and has indicated throughout this year that he would not support Trump's campaign.
In March, he campaigned for Trump's former Republican primary rival, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R).
