Donald Trump has announced a development that he describes as positive regarding eight Iranian women sentenced to death.
In a post on the "Truth" platform, the US president writes: "Great news! I have just been informed that the eight protesting women who were to be executed tonight in Iran will not be executed."
A day earlier, Trump had called for their release, calling it "a good start" for possible talks with Iran.
According to his statement, the situation has changed: " Four will be released immediately and four will be sentenced to one month in prison ."
He adds that he appreciates this decision: " I greatly appreciate that Iran and its leaders have respected my request as President of the United States and have canceled the planned execution ."
However, earlier yesterday, the Iranian judiciary had denied the existence of such a case, casting doubt on the published information.
