Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has called on Europe, as well as the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and interested countries, to engage in negotiations, noting that US mediation in the matter has a chance of success.
"In the absence of the US engaging directly with Europe on Ukraine, Europe must seek more creative solutions to become more resilient. I believe that the only sustainable way to end this war is to engage in negotiations with sincerity and determination. Good mediation efforts are being made now. I hope that American mediation will help achieve success; they have every chance of success ," he said at a forum in Doha.
The Turkish foreign minister stressed that "a platform for continued interaction and dialogue is necessary," despite the ongoing hostilities.
"From the very beginning, I advised my Ukrainian and European friends to do this, and I also said this to my American friends during the administration of former US President Joe Biden. I believe that negotiations offer important opportunities. They may not stop the war immediately, but they certainly help and create additional opportunities and chances for the warring parties and interested parties," he said.
