Munich airport reopens after being closed due to drones

Flights resumed at Munich Airport in Germany on October 3rd, after several drones were detected, forcing authorities to close the airport overnight.

This is the latest in a series of recent airport closures across Europe due to unidentified drone flights.

Airports in Denmark, Norway and Poland have recently suspended flights due to unidentified drones, while Romania and Estonia have blamed Russia for these incidents. Moscow has denied the accusations.

More than 30 flights were canceled in Munich due to drones spotted on Thursday evening, leaving almost 3,000 passengers stranded.

Flights resumed on Friday morning and, according to flight tracking websites, the first flight from this airport took off at 05:50.

A police spokesman earlier told AFP that several people saw drones around the airport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and again an hour later, forcing authorities to halt flights.

German authorities have launched investigations to identify the origin of the drones.
