A young man in his 20s was shot dead by Secret Service agents after entering President Donald Trump's residence without authorization, carrying a gun and a gasoline can.
The identity of the man who was shot has not yet been released. Authorities said the victim's family will be notified first and then his identity may be released.
The suspect is currently believed to be in his 20s and living in North Carolina. He was reported missing several days ago by his family. Investigators believe he left North Carolina and headed south, picking up a rifle along the way, before heading to the Mar-a-Lago estate.
The box containing the gun was found in his vehicle. The man drove through the north gate of Mar-a-Lago as another vehicle was exiting, and was confronted by Secret Service agents and shot to death. Investigators are now working to compile a psychological profile and discover a motive, as he does not appear to have a prior criminal record.
