Ukraine continues to pressure the German government to supply Kiev with German Taurus cruise missiles to defend against Russia.
" Ukraine needs them to save more lives of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians and to speed up the liberation of its territories ," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told Sunday's edition of German tabloid Bild.
He further added that with such long-range weapons, the Ukrainian army would be able to attack Russian forces even beyond the front lines.
"The formula is simple: A greater range of missiles means a shorter duration of war. With this weapon, Ukraine can reach Russian occupation forces on Ukrainian soil far beyond the front line, disrupt their logistics and destroy command centers and ammunition depots," he added .
Given Germany's concern, Kuleba reiterated assurances that the cruise missiles would only be used within Ukraine's borders.
In Germany, politicians from the ruling and opposition parties demanded that Ukraine's armed forces be given weapons systems suitable for destroying bunkers and protected command posts at distances of up to 500 km.
