Iran has cut off all direct and indirect contacts with the United States, closing diplomatic channels and all forms of communication, according to the state-run Tehran Times newspaper.
" Any type of message exchange has also been suspended ," the report notes.
The decision comes at a time of high tension, as warnings of a possible escalation in the Middle East have intensified.
According to Reuters, citing a senior Iranian source, Qatar has conveyed Tehran's message to Washington regarding US President Donald Trump's threats to strike Iran's energy infrastructure.
The Iranian source warned that any attack on power plants would have immediate and far-reaching consequences in the region.
" If America attacks Iran's power generation stations, the entire region and Saudi Arabia will be plunged into total darkness ," the statement said.
The same source added that in the event of uncontrolled escalation, Iran's allies could take additional strategic measures.
" If the situation gets out of control, the Islamic Republic's allies will also close the Bab al-Mandab Strait ," he warned.
According to this assessment, the United States is demanding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee the flow of energy, but Tehran refuses to do so in exchange for what it considers "empty promises."
Recent developments indicate a complete breakdown in diplomatic communication and an increased risk of direct confrontation, while efforts at negotiations appear to be on hold.
