US forces stop and board sanctioned vessel M/T Majestic X in Indian Ocean
"Overnight, U.S. forces conducted a naval intervention and boarded the stateless vessel M/T Majestic X, which is under sanctions and was transporting oil from Iran," a U.S. Department of Defense post on the "X" platform said.
The Pentagon announced that it seized another Iranian-linked oil tanker in the Indian Ocean.
According to the Department of Defense's post on "X", "overnight, U.S. forces conducted a naval intervention and boarded the stateless vessel M/T Majestic X, which is under sanctions and was transporting oil from Iran, in the Indian Ocean, within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility."
The US Department of Defense stated that it would continue "global maritime law enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and intercept vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate."
"International waters cannot be used as a shield. The Department of Defense will continue to deny illegal actors and their vessels freedom of movement in maritime space," the US Department of Defense statement concluded.
Overnight, US forces carried out a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the sanctioned stateless vessel M/T Majestic X transporting oil from Iran, in the Indian Ocean within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
